WADA aims to challenge Shoaib, Asif doping reprieve

I doubted the ICC and WADA would let Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif off as easily. I am guessing a long and arduous legal battle will probably ensue. I don't know why the PCB are being so naive and stubborn about this. The matter is NOT closed, which is what the PCB are claiming. This whole process has made Pakistan look bad according to international eyes. Whether or not the players are innocent is not even the question anymore. The legality, transparency and appeals process that was applied is in question. The ICC and WADA are joining hands and probably have the authority to put their foot down and order re-testing, or perhaps place the ban again on the players. From the IHT...

ICC chief executive officer Malcolm Speed said his organization will offer WADA its full support.

"Our lawyers have examined the finding of the (Pakistan appeals panel) and do not believe the ICC has a right of appeal, but we will cooperate with WADA and provide it with any assistance it requires," Speed said Monday.

The World Anti-Doping Agency will argue to the Court of Arbitration of Sport that Pakistan is a full member of the ICC, which signed up to its code in July.

Seems like the PCB is preparing to defend its decision to the hilt. I just hope this happens well before the World Cup.

The world anti-doping agency is unwilling to openly cite the presence of racism within their ranks which contributed, in part, to this affair. I witnessed firsthand the racism of those in power at some of their events: "I'm sitting here, these people [all white and european from the WORLD anti-doping agency] standing three feet away from me talking about this, that, and the other.

The lack of opportunities afforded to those not from commonwealth nations and pursuit of those Pakistani players and Marion Jones is the result of the actions of a few systemically racist administrators. Such denial is systemic, the result of longstanding and pernicious racial discourses and ideologies as old as time. They are anything but color blind at the WORLD anti-doping agency. I should be called the commonwealth anti-doping agency. Pack of racists. These guys mirror what we find in sports organizations, the logic of white supremacy that limits coaching opportunities within collegiate football, however, is the same logic that impairs equity and justice for all minorities throughout the United States and the world. This is not to say that identical histories and realities define African Americans and Asian Americans, but rather that we must avoid discourses of exceptionalism. Future fights must go beyond these reductions and give voice to the ways in which white supremacy impairs and affects opportunities for all people of color.

Many of these world or international agencies are corrupt and arrogant racist organisations who make their livelyhood by preying on the misfortune of athletes in developing nations. Yet the only faces representing these organizations are european. There is a clear undeniable and arrogant coloniale attitude at work which must and should be investigated. American and european sports is a hotbed of racism and these organisations are simply offshoots of the same big white brother thinking.
